My Story

The severe workforce shortage and lack of healthcare resources in Hawaii, coupled with 10 years of travel experience inspired me to launch Aloha Complex Care (ACC). Maui County lacks the community resources to be able to fill the gaps needed to keep clients safely in their homes. ACC bridges this widening gap between traditional home care services and what is covered/offered by your insurance in your area.

I want to continue to deliver passionate, holistic coordination without the barriers of a traditional healthcare organization, allowing more dedicated time spent meeting client needs and less time managing office politics. The primary focus is personalized healthcare coordination and navigation through medical care and services available in the community. Utilizing critical thinking and networking with experienced professionals offers creative solutions to promote aging wellness at home as well as fulfilling a desperate need in the community. I have dedicated my time in Maui to networking with local businesses and have gained working knowledge on how to offer a robust healthcare team and deliver excellence in managed patient care services.

Aloha Complex Care currently works with a list of private healthcare professionals and continues to seek community partners. Our goal is to continually build community relationships in Hawaii to meet the needs of our clients with a visionary concierge health care service. We strive to keep our minds open and hearts full while honoring those with Hawaiian roots. Maui County local companies lead by example, and we strive to infuse these company values into ACC while facilitating the delivery of our high-quality services.

When the family’s goals evolve and their loved ones require more assistance to remain at home, I will facilitate the coordination of traditional home care services that meet high standards of excellence. When it is appropriate to introduce smart home technologies to supplement services, I am technology-enabled and well-versed in suggesting solutions that may help. I want to transform home care with innovative models of in-home services paired with technologies to make it possible for all seniors to live independently at home and have access to personalized, consistent, and coordinated services at home. This includes collaboration with Maui County’s small business community and the healthcare system.

My Healthcare Career

I began my career in healthcare in the late 1990s as a pediatric front and back-office assistant. After having children, I transitioned to the senior community and became a certified nursing assistant. I worked in that capacity for almost 15 years. I wore many hats in the long-term care facilities. During the day shift, I worked as a bath aid and on the individual units. I found that I really enjoyed caring for seniors and becoming part of their families.

I finally enrolled in the LPN program in 2005. I graduated with my LPN and then my RN in 2008. I started my nursing career in 2007 at one of the local hospitals on the resource team. I gained a wide spectrum of experience floating to the different units in the hospital. In 2011 I transferred to the case management department. This is where I felt alive. I loved being able to solve complex patient and family issues.

In 2013 my family evolved, and the kids moved down south with their dad. I decided then to become a travel case manager so that I could be with them during the school year. I loved the challenges of learning a new area and sharing my knowledge and experience with other case managers. I realized I had a passion for mentorship and worked briefly with the University of Samuel Merrit case management students while working a contract in Sacramento. I decided to further my education and started the graduate program at Western Governor's University. I continued to take travel contracts during this time.

Traveling to Paradise

I always dreamed of traveling to Hawaii and working in paradise. I started at Maui Memorial Medical Center in 2020 during the pandemic. I was able to really impact the patients I cared for by applying forward thinking to their situations. Working at MMMC in the case management department for the past 2 years has given me the opportunity to network with Maui medical professionals and families, building strong relationships and presence within the community. This also made apparent the need for more comprehensive collaboration with community partners in providing excellence in healthcare management and my drive to branch out independently to form ACC. Additionally, my goal is to bring compassionate seasoned medical personnel to Maui to share in the aloha spirit while providing a comprehensive concierge patient/family experience. I have personally worked with each of my team members. They have all demonstrated excellence in customer service with compassion and empathy. This will help provide a new in-home care service that clients, patients, and their families want.

We have rented homes and rooms throughout Maui to service all areas of the island. Our traveling professionals are looking for a new experience and love caring for clients, patients, and their families.
